Swedish packaging giant Tetra Pak has inaugurated a major expansion of its aseptic packaging plant in Ho Chi Minh City, increasing total investment in the facility to EUR217 million.
The second-phase expansion, worth EUR97 million, adds advanced technology and raises the plant’s capacity to over 30 billion cartons annually across 15 new packaging formats. More than half of the output will be used domestically, supporting Vietnam’s growing food and beverage industry, while the rest will be exported to regional markets such as Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia, and New Zealand.
Speaking at the ceremony on Wednesday 3 July, Tetra Pak Global CEO Adolfo Orive said the investment reinforces the company’s long-term commitment to Vietnam and the wider Asia-Pacific region through innovation and sustainable production.
The plant, located in the VSIP II-A Industrial Park in Binh Duong province, currently employs over 350 workers and was among the first in Vietnam to achieve LEED Version 4 Gold Certification for green building standards.
Vietnamese officials praised the expansion as a reflection of the strong partnership between foreign investors and national development, and a signal of deepening ties between Vietnam and Sweden in science and technology.
