Last year 42 year old Norwegian citizen John M. Johansen was released after serving more than three years in one of the toughest prisons in the world – Bombat in Bangkok. Now he has been informed that the State Attorney has decided to appeal the pardon.
The Norwegian was wrongly convicted to 16 years of prison in Thailand for narcotic crimes but after three years and 22 days the court decided that he was unjustly convicted and he was released.
He has been fearing an appeal and the deadline was set to February 26 after several delays in the process. It is now up to the Supreme Court to approve or discard the appeal which can take up to two months.
