Thailand’s BOI office in Stockholm expands Nordic industrial outreach

The Nordic delegation will Tuesday 12 May 2026 visit among others the Triumph motorcycle factory in Thailand.

A delegation of Nordic companies will this week take part in a coordinated industrial mission to Thailand organised by the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) office in Stockholm in connection with SUBCON Thailand 2026, INTERMACH and a series of related industry events in Bangkok and Chonburi.

The programme reflects Thailand’s growing focus on the Nordic region as a source of industrial partnerships, technology and specialised manufacturing expertise.

The delegation includes companies from Sweden, Denmark and Finland representing sectors such as industrial automation, automotive components, packaging, digital transformation, AI, smart manufacturing, sourcing and industrial consultancy.

While delegates arrive in Bangkok on Monday, the industrial programme begins on Tuesday 12 May with a full-day visit to Amata City Chonburi Industrial Estate.

According to the updated programme, the delegation will visit Essilor Optical Laboratory (Thailand) and Triumph Motorcycles (Thailand), combined with presentations by AMATA and networking sessions. The programme also includes a site tour of the industrial estate.

The following days focus on SUBCON Thailand 2026 at BITEC in Bangkok, where the Nordic companies will participate in business matching sessions with Thai suppliers and manufacturers in sectors including automotive parts, machinery, electronics and automation.

The delegation will also attend the official opening ceremony of SUBCON Thailand, which according to the programme includes remarks by Thailand’s Prime Minister or Deputy Prime Minister together with BOI officials.

An important part of the programme is a BOI symposium held together with the Global Future Mobility Conference under the theme “Thailand: Driving Toward Smart and Green Mobility”.

The conference panel includes representatives from Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand (EVAT), BYD Auto Thailand, Bosch Thailand and Swedish automotive safety supplier Autoliv.

Autoliv is represented by Christian Swahn, Executive Vice President for Global Supply Chain Management.

The wider programme demonstrates how Thailand is increasingly combining trade exhibitions with direct investment promotion, factory visits and sector-specific matchmaking.

On Thursday, delegates will participate in customised meetings with Thai organisations and industry bodies connected to their sectors. Examples listed in the programme include Airports of Thailand (AOT), the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), Defense Technology Institute, GISTDA and Thai Aviation Industries.

The mission concludes on Friday with conferences and networking events focused on doing business in Thailand together with Nordic and European business organisations including the Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce, Danish-Thai Chamber of Commerce, Thai-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce, Thai-Finnish Chamber of Commerce, Business Sweden and Innovation Norway.

Several participating companies already have operations or ongoing activities in Thailand and Southeast Asia.

Swedish packaging company Boxon established Boxon Thailand in Bangkok in 2024 and already serves clients in the chemical, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and automotive industries.

Swedish starch technology company LARSSON Sweden established LARSSON South East Asia in Thailand in 2023 and recently received final BOI approvals for spare part sales and service activities. The company says it already has more than 50 installations and clients in Thailand.

Other participating firms include Lesjöfors Thailand, EvoEdge Solutions, DeskMe, HubLearn Group and Premier After Sales Europe.

The delegation is headed by BOI Nordic Director Sawitree Suwannasang and Nordic consultant Mats Gerlam, whose office in Stockholm covers Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland.
