Indonesian Ambassador for Norway and Iceland Esti Andayani presented her credentials to the Norwegian King at the Royal Palace in Oslo, on Thursday, Third Secretary at the Indonesian Embassy in the Norwegian capital Febby Fahrani said Friday.
Esti also conveyed President Susilo Bambang Yudoyono’s warmest greetings to King Harald V.
Bilateral talks were then held on climate change and the two countries’ efforts in dealing with it by reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD).
The other topics of the discussion included increasing bilateral cooperation, human rights, fisheries and education.
King Harald V said he was deeply impressed by the harmonious life of the Indonesian people with the many ethnic groups and religious creeds.
He also said that Norway could learn many things from Indonesia in regard to these matters.
Before the end of the talks, King Harald V said he hoped to one day visit Indonesia.
Ambassador Esti Andayani, 57, is Indonesia’s ninth ambassador to Norway.
Esti Andayani is scheduled to also present her credentials to Iceland President Olafur Ragnar Grimsson at the Iceland Presidential Palace in Reykjavik next Tuesday.
