
In Myanmar’s capital, emergency responders gathered for a week of intensive training aimed at strengthening life-saving skills in future crises.
From 10 to 16 June, the Myanmar Red Cross Society and the Danish Red Cross jointly conducted a national Emergency WASH training at the society’s headquarters in Nay Pyi Taw, The Global New Light of Myanmar reports.
The programme focused on water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in emergency settings. Participants were trained in hygiene standards, environmental health practices, and practical response skills through simulations and hands-on exercises.
A total of 38 volunteers and staff from the Myanmar Red Cross Society took part in the course, which is designed to improve rapid response capacity during disasters across the country.
At the opening ceremony, senior representatives from the Myanmar Red Cross Society and the Danish Red Cross delivered remarks online, stressing the need for better preparedness in emergency health response systems.
