A school kitchen supported by the Danish Embassy and Novo Nordisk Thailand provides meals for nearly 1,500 pupils at seven Bangkok schools.

The kitchen at Wat Don School serves schools in Sathorn and Bang Rak. Thai media highlighted the initiative on 5 October as part of the Bangkok, City for Better Health partnership.

Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt said the kitchen helps improve pupils’ daily lives through better food. Meals follow the city’s nutrition guidelines, with balanced portions of vegetables, protein and other essential nutrients.

One kitchen, seven schools

The kitchen prepares breakfast and lunch for Wat Don School and six neighbouring schools. Central food preparation aims to improve food safety and provide consistent nutrition standards across the schools.

The project also trains pupil representatives to help check food quality and nutrition.

Danish Ambassador Danny Annan said the kitchen, inspired by Milan, demonstrates how international cooperation can turn ideas into practical benefits for children.

Cihan Serdar Kizilcik, general manager of Novo Nordisk Thailand, stressed the importance of preventing obesity from childhood.

Part of a wider partnership

The kitchen forms part of a health partnership between Bangkok’s city administration, the Danish Embassy and Danish healthcare company Novo Nordisk.

Although October’s coverage describes a launch, Daily News reported in August that the kitchen was already operating. The partnership also includes health education and recreational facilities in Bangkok.
