Ericsson opens new office in Hanoi to support Vietnam’s digital journey

Ericsson’s new office in Hanoi showcases 5G solutions as part of its support for Vietnam’s digital transformation.

Swedish telecom company Ericsson has inaugurated a new office in Hanoi, strengthening its 32-year presence in Vietnam and reaffirming its role in the country’s digital transformation.

“The opening of our new office in Hanoi demonstrates Ericsson’s long-term commitment to Vietnam. Together with our partners, we helped lay the foundation for 2G, then moved step by step through 3G and 4G. And today, we are proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with Viettel, VNPT, and Mobifone as we bring 5G to life in Vietnam,” said Rita Mokbel, President of Ericsson Vietnam.

The new 5G-enabled office features Ericsson’s Enterprise Virtual Cellular Network (EVCN), a solution that allows enterprises to manage and control 5G connectivity for mobile devices and IT applications without relying on wi-fi.

Vietnam has set an ambitious goal for its digital economy to contribute up to 30 percent of GDP by 2030, with 5G identified as critical infrastructure. Ericsson aims to support this vision by deepening cooperation with government, operators, enterprises and universities in priority sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare and smart cities.

At the inauguration, Ericsson showcased several demonstrations of 5G applications, including holographic communication, AI-enabled XR smart glasses, enhanced uplink for cloud gaming and broadcasting, immersive sports fan engagement tools, and robotic dogs for industrial safety and emergency response.

Ericsson also highlighted its partnerships with Vietnamese universities, such as Ericsson Educate with PTIT and the AI Lab with RMIT, as part of its commitment to talent development and innovation.
