The world is finally recovering from long recession with GDP growth accelerating in Europe, Japan, China and USA. Resumed economic growth in the West is likely to boost the export packaging sector in Asia. Meanwhile, the box-intensive food sector and strong performance of retail business have positively influenced the Western packaging board markets through 2016-2017.

Pöyry’s new outlook “World Paper Markets up to 2030” provides description of key drivers and demand forecasts from 2016 through 2030 for ten product areas and circa 80 countries/country groups. The study seeks answers to how the paper and paperboard market is going to look like by 2030.

Today’s economic environment requires paper producers to make continuous efforts to improve their mill operations, while increasing production efficiency and product quality. To a great extent, the productivity of a paper mill depends on its management having a clear view of actual performance levels. Since mill performance is a result of several factors interacting within a complex industrial environment, performance maximization requires a deep understanding of production flows, the transparency of the manufacturing process and efficient tools for tracking production, measuring quality and optimizing the use of capacity, materials and energy.

ABB will present their solution for Digital Mill Operations with customer cases.
