Taiwanese to challenge Norwegian court for Chinese labeling

The story about the world slowly giving in to the Chinese demands of labeling Taiwan as a province in China keeps going. In the most recent episode, a group of Taiwanese students studying in Norway is challenging the court after being labeled as Chinese citizens.

The Province Government Building in Taiwan

The case is being led by a student only named as “Joseph” who previously worked as a solicitor in Norway. The base of the case is that the labeling of Taiwanese as Chinese citizens infringes upon the rights of the individual as stipulated by the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, according to Taiwan News.

If the court should rule in favor of Joseph and his fellow students, this would set a precedent for similar situations in the future, forcing Norway to label citizens of Taiwan as that, and not as Chinese citizens.
