Australian Federal Police investigators told a British court hearing into the deaths they had found no evidence hostel staff added methanol to drinks served to tourists at Nana Backpacker Hostel in Vang Vieng.

Instead, the investigation is now focusing on the distillery and factory believed to have produced the contaminated alcohol.

The hostel had previously come under scrutiny after several tourists drank free shots there before falling seriously ill in November 2024.

The methanol poisoning incident in November 2024 killed six foreign tourists, including two Danish travellers, two Australians, one American and British lawyer Simone White.
