Norwegian Car Carriers (NOCC) has awarded Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore a contract for a new pure car and truck carrier. The vessel will be from the same series as NOCC Pacific.
The newbuild is planned with a length overall of 199.99 metres and a 38-metre beam. It will have a design draught of 8.6 metres and a depth of 14.8 metres.
NOCC said the ship will use a dual-fuel propulsion system. It can run on MGO, very low sulphur fuel oil, or LNG.
The vessel will have hoistable vehicle decks for taller cargo, including buses and construction machinery. Cargo handling will use a stern ramp rated at 225 tonnes, with design work by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute.
NOCC is a privately owned car-carrier company headquartered in Oslo, Norway. It manages commercial and operational activities in-house, while technical management is outsourced to third parties.
Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore is part of the CIMC (China International Marine Containers) group and builds offshore and marine vessels in Shandong province. The company operates shipbuilding facilities in Yantai, Longkou, and Haiyang, on China’s northeast coast.
