Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) has hosted a delegation from Veterans for Peace Chapter 160 during their annual visit to Vietnam. The group visited Quang Tri Province on 19–20 March.
The delegation, led by Chuck Searcy, observed ongoing efforts to address war legacies in central Vietnam. The visit is part of a long-running programme bringing US veterans and their families to the country.
During the visit, the group toured a clearance site in Gio Linh District, where NPA and RENEW teams are removing unexploded ordnance. The area, covering more than 350,000 square metres, has been identified as contaminated by cluster munitions and other explosives.
The clearance operation is expected to be completed by 1 April 2026 and will directly benefit 223 local residents. The work is supported by funding from the United States and Norway.
According to NPA, the visit highlights continued international cooperation in clearing unexploded ordnance and supporting communities affected by past conflicts in Vietnam.
