Swedish tourist reports over 100,000 baht theft after meeting transwomen in Pattaya

A Swedish tourist has reported being robbed of more than 100,000 baht in cash during an incident at a condominium in Pattaya in the early hours of 15 May, according to Thai police, Thaiger reports.

The victim, a 67-year-old man identified as Mahmoud, filed a complaint with officers at Mueang Pattaya Police Station at around 3.40am. Police then travelled to the condominium to begin an initial investigation.

According to the report, the man had been out at entertainment venues along Pattaya’s Walking Street before meeting two Thai transwomen. He later invited them back to his accommodation at My View Condotel on Pattaya Sai Song Road and agreed to pay them 1,000 baht each.

Police said the group arrived at the condominium at around 2.20am. The victim later told officers that two additional individuals were invited into the room, after which a dispute broke out inside the apartment.

During the disturbance, one of the individuals allegedly took a key to the victim’s safe and fled with cash while the situation unfolded. The stolen money reportedly included 67,500 baht in Thai currency, 800 euros, 2,000 Swedish kronor and 8 million Vietnamese dong, with a total value of around 111,000 baht.

Police in Pattaya have launched an investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage as well as witness statements in an effort to identify and locate the suspects.

No arrests had been announced at the time of reporting.
