Together with this cluster the Norwegian Consulate co-hosted a networking lunch and seminar for the Norwegian fashion designers to connect with the Shanghai fashion industry. Around 30 participants gathered in the Consul Generals residence to share of their knowledge on how the Norwegian fashion designers can get an impasse into the Chinese market. Norwegian fashion designers, Cathrine Hammel and Holzweiler had the opportunity to share their designs for guests representing the Shanghai Fashion Week, retailers, advertising agencies and fashion bloggers. Participants appreciated the look of the Norwegian designs. “Elements such as the use of natural materials, pure colors and clean lines, as well as the fashion designers’ affection for functional lifestyles represent something distinctive for the Chinese consumer,” one of the guests mentioned.
The Norwegian Fashion Hub is a cluster representing around 20 fashion designers initiated by the Norwegian Fashion Institute. The Norwegian Fashion Hubs mandate is to promote Norwegian fashion design as a well-known international brand. Several of the fashion design companies have experienced a considerable growth in their international export since joining this cluster and its activities abroad. The Norwegian Consulate General supports the cluster with local contacts and networks for further business development.
