The hull of Rem Offshore’s new low-emission subsea construction vessel, Rem Pioneer, has departed Vietnam for Norway, marking the next stage in its construction.

According to Norwegian ship designer Skipsteknisk, the vessel’s hull—built by Vietnam’s Song Cam shipyard—has been loaded onto the heavy-lift vessel Seaway Osprey for transport from Haiphong to Norway, where final outfitting will take place at Myklebust Verft.

The 117-meter-long vessel, built to DNV class, will feature a 250-tonne offshore crane, energy storage and shore power systems, and a 1,400-square-meter deck area. Once completed, Rem Pioneer is expected to be delivered in August 2026.

It is one of two subsea vessels ordered by Norway’s Rem Offshore in 2024. The second vessel, Rem Ocean, is also under construction in Vietnam and will serve on the Norwegian continental shelf under an eight-year, 1 billion NOK (around 91 million$) inspection and maintenance contract with Equinor, secured in cooperation with DeepOcean.
