The administration of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has yet to transmit the JPEPA ( Japan-Phillipines Economic Partnership Agreement) to the Senate since the trade deal was signed in Helsinki, Finland in the year 2006, said Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Pimentel on 6 August 2007.
An opposition lawmaker in the Phillipines revealed that the Senate may likely to ratify the controversial JPEPA if Tokyo would make a pledge it would not export toxic waste to the Phillippines as well as respect the country’s environmental laws.
