Danish fund manager Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) plans a 300-megawatt onshore wind project in Nueva Ecija, Philippines. The project will be developed through its subsidiary San Jose Onshore Wind Power Corp. (SJOWPC).
A study by GHD values the San Jose wind project at about 520 million$. The project is seeking an environmental compliance certificate from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. The wind farm would straddle the municipalities of Lupao and Carranglan in Nueva Ecija.
The project area covers about 4,617 hectares within the Talavera watershed forest reserve. From this site, CIP aims to deliver 300 megawatts of renewable energy generation capacity.
Pre-construction works are targeted for the third quarter of 2026. Construction is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2027. Commercial operations at San Jose wind farm are expected by the second quarter of 2029.
CIP has partnered with Ayala-led ACEN to develop an offshore wind project in Camarines Sur. Located near San Miguel Bay, the project could reach about one gigawatt of installed capacity. It is in the pre-development stage and awaits inclusion in the DOE’s GEA-5 auction.
Beyond wind, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners also invests in solar and bioenergy assets. The Danish fund manager currently runs 13 funds for more than 180 institutional investors worldwide.
Danish wind-projects in the Philippines have previously been called into question by experts.
