A 59-year-old Finnish man was stabbed in Pattaya by his partner in the early hours of 2 July after an argument over about 200 baht, according to local police.
The man suffered a stab wound to the left side of his chest near his heart, as well as cuts above and below his left eye. He was able to make his way to Pattaya City Police Station, where officers called rescuers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation. He was later taken to hospital for treatment.
Speaking through an interpreter, the Finnish national told police that he had been in a relationship with the suspect for more than a year. He said the argument began when his partner asked for 200 baht, which he did not have. This is when his partner allegedly attacked him with a sharp object.
Police said the assault took place at the couple’s accommodation in Soi Buakhao. After the incident, the injured man rode his motorcycle about one kilometre to Pattaya City Police Station to seek help. Officers later found bloodstains on the motorcycle, which were recorded as evidence.
Investigators have inspected the room where the alleged assault took place and are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area as they work to identify and locate the suspect.
No arrests had been announced as of 2 July, and the investigation remains ongoing.
