IKEA Malaysia has announced that all its restaurants, cafes, and bistros nationwide are now officially certified halal by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim).
The certification follows nearly three decades of adherence to halal practices by the Swedish retailer in Malaysia, including sourcing only halal-certified ingredients, following strict preparation standards, and prohibiting non-permissible items.
IKEA Malaysia country retail director Malcolm Pruys said the certification reflects the company’s respect for trust, culture, and community. He noted that halal compliance in Malaysia represents not only regulation but also cultural respect and assurance.
The process included rigorous checks and close collaboration with Jakim, covering ingredient traceability, kitchen workflows, and staff training. IKEA Malaysia said the recognition strengthens its commitment to inclusivity, quality, and food safety.
The company added that it will continue to focus on sustainability in its food offerings, reducing waste, and providing meals that are affordable while supporting healthier and more environmentally friendly choices.
