A concert by popular Thai folk music group Ponglang Sa-on was temporarily halted in Stockholm after Swedish authorities intervened over safety concerns caused by overcrowding.

The performance marked the group’s first European concert tour in nearly 20 years and attracted thousands of Thai fans living across Sweden and other parts of Europe.

According to the band’s leader, Eed Sompong Kunapratom, officials asked organisers to stop the show temporarily after the venue exceeded safe capacity limits. Videos and social media posts from the event showed large crowds gathering both inside and outside the venue.

Band members Duangrudee Phonam, known as Lulu, and Khwannanpha Ruangsri, known as Lala, initially could not perform due to the crowd situation. Local reports said authorities struggled to control the number of attendees, with some people attempting to enter the venue despite capacity limits.

Following the interruption, organisers adjusted the programme and the concert later continued. The band thanked Thai fans in Sweden for travelling long distances to attend the event, with many audience members reportedly wearing traditional Thai clothing.

The Stockholm concert was the opening stop of the group’s month-long European tour following the band’s recent reunion.
