WHO puts pressure on China

The head of the World Health Organization (WHO) will send a new expert group to China to investigate the origins of the coronavirus. To do so, WHO is asking China for full access.

“We are pressuring China to grant full access, and we are asking countries to raise the issue in bilateral meetings to make China cooperate,” says WHO Secretary-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, in an interview with the Financial Times.

According to Tedros, the WHO has already written to China asking the authorities to provide more information. He says WHO will send an expert team if China allows it.
