Indonesia’s Directorate General of Immigration deported a 34-year-old Swedish national back in November 2025. The man was suspected of serious violent crimes in Sweden, according to Indonesian authorities.
Acting Director General of Immigration Yuldi Yusman said the deportation followed an official request from Swedish police. He said the man had been tracked in Indonesia since August 2025, although he was not listed on Interpol’s red notice at the time.
The Swedish man entered Indonesia on 7 August 2025 on a visitor visa, and immigration checks later found he had overstayed by more than 60 days. Authorities said he was placed on a watch list to prevent him from leaving the country.
Immigration officers detained him on 18 November at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport as he attempted to travel, and he was deported on 26 November under supervision. Indonesian authorities said he was handed over to Swedish police in Stockholm and has been blacklisted from re-entering Indonesia.
Swedish National Police Commissioner Petra Lundh thanked Indonesia for what she described as swift action. Indonesian authorities said the man is suspected of attempted murder, illegal weapons offences, and involving minors in criminal activity since 2015.
