Vestas China Picks up With Old Customer

Vestas has received an order for 49.3 MW from Chongli Construction Investment Huashi Wind Power Company Ltd., who placed its first-ever wind turbine order of 49.3 MW with Vestas back in 2008. This new order consists of both V52-850 kW and V60-850 kW wind turbines, and will be installed at Jiaochekou wind farm in Chongli County, Hebei province.

Chongli Construction Investment Huashi Wind Power Company Ltd. is one of the wind energy subsidiaries of Hebei Construction Investment New Energy Company which is an influential company in the Hebei province. Hebei Construction Investment New Energy Company and Vestas initiated the collaboration in 2008, and with this new order, the accumulated wind energy capacity signed between the parties will amount to approximately 100 MW.

“Our customer has chosen Vestas for this project because of our team’s strong service mind, unique micro-siting capabilities, and problem-solving approach. Both companies commit to building a long-term win-win strategic partnership,” said Jens Tommerup, President of Vestas China. “On top of our high quality products, our service and technology have left a good impression with our customer.”

The agile and reliable kW platform was chosen for this project due to the complex terrain and wind resources, and because this platform is easier to transport.

The contract includes delivery, installation and commissioning of the wind turbines, a VestasOnline® Business SCADA solution as well as a service and maintenance agreement. The turbines are scheduled to be delivered in the second quarter of 2011.

In 2010, Vestas has announced almost 1,000 MW worth of orders in China alone, which is a record high order intake for Vestas in this competitive market.
