Business Sweden Malaysia and the Malaysia Semiconductor Industry Association (MSIA) have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen collaboration in semiconductors. The agreement aims to accelerate innovation, sustainability and supply-chain resilience between Sweden and Malaysia.

The MOU sets a framework for joint activities in research, development, innovation, manufacturing, design and professional qualification. Focus areas include ecosystem development, supply-chain resilience and business-driven technology exchange.

According to Sweden’s Trade Commissioner to Malaysia Ludvig Hermansson, deeper cooperation is intended to support future innovation, resilience and sustainable growth. MSIA executive director Andrew Chan said the partnership opens opportunities in advanced technology, sustainability and talent development.

The initiative aligns with Malaysia’s National Semiconductor Strategy under the New Industrial Master Plan 2030, positioning the country as a hub for advanced semiconductor technologies, while drawing on Sweden’s strengths in Industry 4.0, sustainable manufacturing and digitalisation.
