Cambodia Airways has announced the lease of its first turboprop aircraft, an ATR 72-600, in a move to strengthen its domestic and regional flight network. The aircraft will be delivered in February 2026 through a dry-lease agreement with Singapore-based Avation PLC.
With the new ATR 72-600, Cambodia Airways will expand flight frequencies and open new short-haul routes, particularly to destinations with shorter runways that are less suited for larger jet aircraft.
The airline currently operates a fleet of Airbus A320-family aircraft and the addition of a turboprop marks its first diversification into a new aircraft type. This expansion is expected to increase competition with Air Cambodia, which also serves regional markets with turboprops.
The development comes shortly after the inauguration of Phnom Penh’s Techo International Airport on 9 September 2025. The new hub is designed to handle both wide-body aircraft and smaller regional planes, further enhancing Cambodia’s connectivity.
