Norwegian company barred from exporting salmon to China

The Norwegian joint venture Ocean Quality has received a decision from Norwegian Food Safety Authority (NFSA) which bans the company from exporting salmon to China.

Ocean Quality

This comes as a consequence after it  was discovered that two employees had been supplying incorrect information to the NFSA.

The incorrect information claimed that the exported salmon did not have the disease panceas disease, which is banned in China although most countries have no regulation on the disease.

That was incorrect and as a result Ocean Blue suspended the two employees responsible.

Ocean Quality specifies that the ban is only on salmon bred in Norway and therefore it’s still possible to sell the salmon bred in Scotland, Canada and British Columbia.
