A 63-year-old Swedish man was found dead inside a condominium in Nonthaburi after neighbours reported disturbing noises and a strong odour coming from the unit, Thai media reports.
Police from Bang Si Mueang Station entered the condominium room in Bang Si Mueang district on 27 May and discovered the body of Andreas Alexander Andersson lying face down inside the apartment. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to local reports, neighbours had previously heard repeated sounds of arguing and objects hitting walls from the room over a period of time. One neighbour said the noises stopped around two weeks before the body was discovered. Residents later noticed a foul smell and liquid reportedly seeping from the unit.
A neighbour identified only as “Tum”, 37, told local media that the Swedish man mostly kept to himself and rarely interacted with others in the building. He added that the man was often seen wearing rubber gloves and protective coverings over his feet while taking out rubbish.
Investigators reportedly found bottles of toilet-cleaning chemicals and several cans of insecticide inside the apartment, which police described as being in disarray. Emergency responders and forensic specialists attended the scene before the body was transferred for a post-mortem examination.
Thai authorities have not confirmed the cause of death and said the investigation remains ongoing pending forensic results.
