A Taiwanese resident in Denmark, Wang Yu-hsin, is hoping the country’s new government will address concerns over being labelled as “China” on residence permits, according to Focus Taiwan.

Wang Yu-hsin said she has repeatedly asked Danish authorities to correct the designation since 2024, but without success.

She said to Focus Taiwan that the mismatch between her residence permit and passport – which lists “Republic of China” and “Taiwan” – has caused difficulties when travelling.

“I felt nervous when I stood at immigration due to the different designations in the residence permit and my passport,” she told the media, explaining that it has caused her stress when travelling.

She said she hopes a new government formed after the recent election could become a turning point in resolving the issue.

Taiwan’s representative in Denmark, Robin Cheng, also told Focus Taiwan the issue has been raised multiple times with Danish officials and will continue to be pursued after the recent election.

According to Statistics Denmark (DST), 276 Taiwanese citizens were living in Denmark at the end of last year.
