ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, announced on March 26 that three contracts have been signed to supply Optimize IT Expert Optimizer to the Siam Cement Plants of Kaeng Khoi (Lines 4 & 5) in Saraburi, as well as an extension to Khao Wong facilities in the same province. The new contracts follow successful implementation of two expert systems supplied last year to Siam Cement.
Optimize IT Expert Optimizer is a computer-based system for controlling, stabilizing and optimizing cement production processes. The principal concept is that Expert Optimizer mimics the actions of a “super” cement plant operator and implements them on-line in the manner of an auto-pilot.
Main benefits that Siam Cement expect to achieve will include increased cement output, lower fuel consumption and extended cement kiln refractory life, at the same time reach better and more consistent cement quality. Lower plant maintenance costs will result from improved run-times.
Other benefits obtained by operators and supervisors are freedom from routine process concerns so that they are enabled to concentrate on other matters. The system also provides plant management with the tools and information to analyze and manage the manufacturing process more objectively.
Siam Cement plans to implement Expert Optimizer on all of it’s higher volume plants.
