The Mekong River Commission (MRC) and Development Partners, including Denmark, gathered in Vientiane, Laos on the 28 and 29 June 2012 for the bi-annual meeting. At the meeting, they reviewed progress in key programmes and set out targets for the year 2012 and beyond.
MRC member countries include Cambodia, Laos PDR, Thailand and Vietnam.
The meeting focused on reviewing the progress of MRC key programmes and activities including MRC Procedures, study on the sustainable management and development of the Mekong River, Basin Development Programme, MRC core functions, MRC Human Resources matters, etc.
At the meeting, the Development Partners jointly issued a statement expressing MRC donors’ views on various MRC important issues including the MRC Study, the status of the Prior Consultation process for Xayaburi Hydropower Project, the MRC financial sustainability, Building Capacity and Programme Implementation.
