Danish ambassador talks with China’s richest man

On 19 October 2012, Danish ambassador Friis Arne Petersen had a conversation with Mr. Zong Qinghou, the richest man in China, about Denmark and the two countries’ economies at the dinner party at the Kerry Hotel in Beijing. The ambassador also told Mr. Qinghou that Denmark is open to Chinese investors.

The dinner party was hosted by Rupert Hoogewerf, the founder of the Hurun Report – a list of the richest persons in China. Hurun Report recognized the 10 most respected business leaders in China in 2012 at the event.

MR. Zong Qinghou is the CEO of the Hangzhou based Wahaha Group, the leading beverage company in China. The Hurun Report estimates that Zong’s net worth is USD 12.6 billion.

Ambassador Petersen described to Mr. Qinghou how Denmark is open to Chinese investors and that Denmark has a leading global position in sectors such as energy, environment, climate, pharmaceutical and health, shipping as well as sustainability.

The Wahaha group’s primary area of interest is China and Asia, but as a consequence of the company´s growth and size the European market also seems of potential interest for investment and business.
