New Danish Consulate at Phuket

The Danish disaster office in Phuket is to become a new Danish General Consulate.
     The disaster office setup in Phuket by the Danish Embassy is now to become General Consulate, and will begin normal operations in approximately 10 months, according to the Foreign Ministry. Currently, former Consul at the Danish Embassy in Bangkok Ms Tove Wihlborg Andersen is manning the consulate in Phuket.
     Formal establishment of the Consulate awaits official approval from the Thai government. Until then the temporary office will continue to function as it has been since shortly after the disaster.
     The most important work of the office there is still coordinating efforts to identify the remains of Danish victims of the tsunami.
