The first step towards a systematic and expanded cooperation between Swedish and Malaysian medical researchers was taken during a seminar 30 June in Kuala Lumpur.
Titled “Exploring Karolinska Institutet Sweden – Malaysia Collaborative Efforts in Research, Innovation and Commersialisation”, the seminar attracted participants from the Malaysian Medical Research Community for a dialogue with Professor Sven Pettersson of Karolinska Institutet on possible future avenues of cooperation. The dialogue continues during the fall 2005.
This seminar follows an initiative taken by Malaysia’s former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad when he visited Karolinska Institutet during the autumn 2003.
Besides collaboration in the shape of seminars, this cooperation will also see Malaysian researchers pursue PhD studies at Karolinska Institutet.
