Indonesia Cancels Badminton Match Against Denmark

Anger at the publication of drawings of Muhammed are now also affecting the world of sports.
Thursday Indonesian badminton officials announced that they have cancelled an upcoming friendly match against Denmark, citing the publication controversy as the reason.
“The association made the decision Wednesday to anticipate security problems (arising) in light of the recent protests toward the Prophet drawings,” the director of foreign relations with the Indonesia Badminton Association, Sulistiyanto told the Jakarta Post.
The matches were due to be played March 14 as part of preparations for the Thomas Cup. The cancellation was made after the Danish foreign ministry advised all Danes to leave Indonesia, even though the protests in the muslim country largely have been minimal and peaceful by Indonesian standards.
