Malaysians Pledge To Help Cool Cartoons Controversy

Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said a formal request from the Danish government has yet to be forwarded to Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) asking for help to quell the Muslim anger in Malaysia over the publication of controversial caricatures seen ridiculing Prophet Muhammad.
According to The Star newspaper online, Datuk Seri Abdullah said: “If there is a formal request, it will certainly be forwarded to me as soon as possible.”
“It has not reached me yet at this point of time,” he added.
He was commenting on the statement by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar that he had received a call from his Danish counterpart on Friday asking for Malaysia‘s cooperation to explain and contain the situation.
