The couple was run over by the heavy vehicle, as they tried to cross the road in front of “Princess Hotel” located in Bangkok’s Pomprap-Sattruphai-area.
A witness explains to Bangkok Post, that the vehicle hit the tourists even though they waved a so called “safety flag.”
The flag is a part of a new traffic safety campaign started by the Bangkok Road Department. Pedestrians are to wave the flag to signal to drivers that they want to cross the road.
The driver of the excavator is charged for reckless driving.
