Talent Final In Hanoi

On October the 25th the Embassy of Denmark in Hanoi will present 10 performance pieces in the Final Competition – Talent Prize Performance Art 2008 at 19:30, Saturday, 25 October in Vietnam Arts and Cultural Exhibition, 02 Van Ho, Hanoi. The entrance is free and the performance piece voted most will be rewarded with 3000 USD.
    This final competition event will bring artists from Hanoi, Hue and Hochiminh City, the three main centres of performance art development. 10 performance art pieces represent diversified performance art styles developed in Vietnam, either by individual or in group, either more traditional or more contemporary.
     Audience will also experience subject-matters covering a wide range from the general nature of movement, human pain and despair, manmade natural disasters and the limits of the human body.
     First introduced in Vietnam art scene in the mid 90s, in recent years, performance art has been intrigued more and more interests even though it is a relatively new art form to local public. The first Performance Art Festival ‘Dom Dom’ in 2006 was sponsored by Danish Vietnamese Cultural Development and Exchange Fund (CDEF).
    “Performance art challenges the established concepts of one-way relation between audience and artist by introducing an intersubjectivity environment into artistic reception. Its mobility and fleeting nature has offer artists an unbounded and enticing way to express new ideas’, said Mr. Nhu Huy, member of the jury board.
    The CDEF talent prize for young Vietnamese artist is organized by the Embassy of Denmark to support to the cultural activities in Vietnam. The talent prize is given annually and aims at cherishing young talents in various fields of art. Danish Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Peter Lysholt Hansen says: ‘With the talent prize event the CDEF wishes to provide the young Vietnamese performance artists with an opportunity to enter a national competition and gain recognition for their talents’.
    The 10 performance artists who have been selected for the Final Event are listed below: Mr. Nguyen Van He, Mr. Le Quy Anh Hao, Mr. Pham Van Truong, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Mr. Nguyen Huy An, Mr. Le Van Son, Mr. Pham Huy Thong, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Linh, Ms. Tran Huynh Trieu An, Ms. Le Thi Minh Nguyet.
