Singapore Sign MOU With Sweden

Singapore‘s Health Sciences Authority (HSA)
has signed two new memoranda of understanding with counterpart agencies in the UK and Sweden, in a bid to further
strengthen its links with other regulators around the world.

    The
alliances are with the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency
(MHRA) and Sweden‘s
Medical Products Agency (Läkemedelsverket) and cover a similar range of
collaborative activities. MHRA chairman Sir Alasdair Breckenridge signed the UK
MoU on a visit to Singapore
this week.

    The HSA
said that it was aiming to bolster the formal exchange of information and
technology through the memoranda. These outline how it will work with the two
European agencies to share expertise relating to product evaluations, unsafe
products, adverse events, regulatory best practices and harmonisation, and to
liaise in other areas such as staff training.

    The Swedish
agency also pointed to joint projects in the area of counterfeit medicines and
all three parties cited the general benefits of closer collaboration in a time
of fully globalised drug development.
