Norwegian Children Donate Toys to Laos

The Children’s Museum of Stavanger hosted a toy auction Saturday to raise money to children from the Akha-minority, who lives in the mountains of Laos.

The money will go to the Stavanger-based Norwegian NGO Hoi Verden’s school building project in the mountain villages, including education of Akha-teachers and the providing of books.

“Illiteracy and poverty are major problems among the Akhas, by providing education for the children we hope to solve there problems”, says Kari Vestbø, who is the spokesperson for Hei Verden.
