The Danish shoe-manufacturer ECCO has stated that the company is about to let off 1150 production-workers on their foreign production-sites, including the ones in Indonesia and Thailand due to the financial crises.
According to the manager of the production Jens Christian Meier the sale in the first quarter of 2009 has been unexpected low.
“We are now adjusting the number of jobs to the reality of the marked, but if the sale improves we will of course increase the number of workers on our factories” he states in a press-release.
Besides Indonesia and Thailand, the production-sites in China and Slovakia will be effected by the lay-offs.
