The partnership in high quality wooden toy production between Sydfyns Trælegetøj ApS and SD Toys Private Enterprise has received a support of DKK 881,000 from the Danish Embassy to build new production in Tien Giang Province.
SD Toys Private Enterprise was founded in 1989 by local teachers in My Tho, Tien Giang province. Starting with limited customers in Tien Giang and Ho Chi Minh City, today, the company has expanded its network to large cities, including Hanoi, Da Nang, and Hai Phong. With a wish to widen its export market and improve production technique to a more professional level, SD Toys has decided to form a partnership with Sydfyns Trælegetøj.
Sydfyns Trælegetøj ApS was formed in 1990 and has its head quarter in Copenhagen, Denmark. Sydfyns Trælegetøj has produced and marketed wooden toys for kindergartens and institutions in Denmark during the past 20 years, and has accumulated great experience and competence in the area. However, the market conditions have changed and the company has to look for another strategy in order to come up with more competitive products. Sydfyns Trælegetøj has found SD Toys as the most ideal partner to establish a Joint Venture with intention of equal share basis.
With support of DKK 881,000 from the B2B programme, the partners will initially conduct a feasibility study to obtain thorough understanding of the market future. At the same time, a pilot project will be implemented to offer technical trainings to local staff, to invest in equipment, as well as to promote Corporate Social Responsibilities activities. This project is expected to create about 20 new jobs to the local labour market in the first year of operation.
