Denmark Pavilion Greets 5 millionth Visitor

A 58-year-old retired teacher from Shanghai became the 5 millionth visitor to the Denmark Pavilion yesterday.

Liu Lingyuan received one of the pavilion’s 200-plus bicycles, which visitors can ride for free around the pavilion as an example of how to create a sustainable city environment.

Her gifts also included a biking helmet and a book about the Little Mermaid.

Liu’s family used to ride bicycles on a daily basis decades ago, however, with the economic development, her family chose the car over the bike, she said. Now the family would like to use bicycles again because it is good for their health, she said.
