Smart Response to Climate Change

The International Conference on The Role of University in Smart Response to Climate Change was organized at Vietnam National University (VNU) for December 11-13, 2010 by VNU, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) in collaboration with the Association of Southeast Asian Institutes of Higher Learning (ASAIHL).

The conference was participated by over 150 national and international scientists with nearly 50 papers from universities and organizations all over the world. At the Conference, the presentation on Assessment of Vulnerability Caused by Climate Change and Introduction of Livelihood Models Adapting to Climate Change received high appreciation from the participants.

This was the key results of the first year of the project Community-based Adaptation to Climate Change and Policy Linkages in Thua Thien Hue Province financed by the Embassy’s Fund for Local Cooperation.

Prof. Nobou Mimura of Ibaraki University (Japan) recommended that the Project Management Board submit this paper to IPCC for reference for its Asia case study. In addition, many participants from other countries were interested in further information and wanted to connect the project results to their projects and their countries.
