Gahrton visits Indonesia to observe elections

The Swedish EU-parliament member Mr Per Gahrton travels to Indonesia as an EU-observer of Indonesia’s parliamentary elections held Monday 5 April.
“Indonesia is fourth most populous country in the world as well as having the largest Muslim population in the world. It would be a great achievement if the country manages to hold free and democratic elections as this would prove that even Muslim countries can be democratic,” says Per Gahrton in a statement from his party.” It would also be a well needed example for the Muslim world,” says Per Gahrton who will observe the elections in the Molucces region of Indonesia.
Per Gahrton is a Green Party of Sweden member of the EU parliament and a veteran in Swedish politics. Around 300 foreign observers will cover the elections. Sweden contributes with ten observers, all under the EU umbrella.
