Suharto`s Great-granddaughter Used Narko with Police Officer

The great-granddaughter of former president Suharto allegedly used drugs in the company of a National Police officer because she “felt safe,” said the Jakarta Police on Monday.

According to police, Putri Arywanti Haryowibowo is friends with the National Police officer she was arrested with during the drug bust at Hotel Maharani in South Jakarta on Friday.

“Based on our observations, the two of them have known each other for a long time,” said Sr. Comr. Anjan Pramuka Putra, the head of the Jakarta Police’s narcotics directorate, at a press conference on Monday.

Anjan also showed reporters evidence confiscated in raid.

Putri, 22, was caught in the possession of 0.8 grams of crystal methamphetamine and ecstasy pills during the bust. Anjan said she was at Hotel Maharani that night with two other people — Adjutant Sr. Comr. Eddie Setiono from the National Police and his driver, GN.

“She felt safe because she was with a police officer,” he said, adding that GN was the police’s intended target when they raided the hotel.

“GN is not a new face for the police, he was once arrested for a criminal offense. When he works for Eddie, his job is to find drugs for his boss,” Anjan said.

He said Putri, the granddaughter of Suharto’s oldest son, Sigit Harjojudanto, was only a user.

“It’s the judge’s right to decide whether she needs to be rehabilitated or not,” Anjan said.

Putris, accompanied by her family’s lawyer, Sandy Arfin, is currently being questioned at Jakarta Police headquarters.
