Jiepang Helps Ikea Bring In Young Shoppers

As Ikea opens its biggest store in Asia, the furniture group has struck a partnership with location-based platform Jiepang to draw young shoppers through its doors.

Shoppers who “check-in” at the Ikea store will receive virtual badges they can share with friends and redeem them for prizes. In addition, Ikea has launched is brand page on Jiepang to offer users tips on topics such as home decoration and the latest products.

In order to increase exposure and awareness of the opening, both of Ikea’s stores in Shanghai will participate in the grand opening.

Commenting on the partnership David Liu, founder and CEO said it was a great opportunity for Jiepang to synchronise its services and users with IKEA’s customer base.

He added that due to China’s size, the market was fragmented into different user groups such as Renren, Kaixin and Sina Weibo, the partnership would allow it to tap into several groups in the region and align itself to them.
