Between the 16th and 28th of August nearly a hundred young Scandinavians will be fighting to prove themselves in the Youth Olympic Games(YOG) held in Nanjing, China. The youths are 15 to 18 years old but the YOG itself is even younger. In fact its only 4 four years old and the first ever YOG was hosted in Singapore in 2010.

The YOG features 28 different sports and Scandinavia is represented in 15 of them. Sweden is the strongest represented Scandinavian country with a total of 32 athletes competing in 12 different sports.

An interesting young athlete is 18 year old Swedish Boxer Agnes Alexiusson, she is already youth world champion and according to the International Boxing Association her confidence should be further boosted by the fact that she recently beat four of her toughest opponents.

According to the German flag carrier Lufthansa, who operates a direct route between Frankfurt and Nanjing, a lot of the national teams have already arrived. If you want to know more about the future elite athletes of your home country or to see them in action the YOG website provides both information and tickets.
