“Topless” Danish Cuisine

Central Chit Lom is currently hosting a Danish food promotion themed “Topless” Cuisine Danish – Style by The Admiral’s Pub, at The Food Loft on the mall’s seventh floor. The promotion which began on 2 August will end on 31 August 2011 and is open every day, including weekends, from 10:00 to 22:00.

The Admiral’s Pub & Restaurant, known for serving Scandinavian meals and sandwiches, is preparing all meals served at its booth at The Food Loft. Admirals’ Manager Napakkamon Anant, Na, is also the person in charge of managing the booth.

At the booth, there are varieties of Danish food, both hot and cold, including the very popular Danish open-faced sandwiches, smørrebrød, which Admiral’s is well-known for. It is also the reason of the theme as for being “topless”.

Na explained that the entire event is being organised by the Central Chit Lom as they intend to promote something new to the customers and crowd that visit every day.

“Central has been calling us to do this for quite some time but due to time constraints, it has been a challenge. Now, finally we are able to be here to help serve typical Danish food,” Na says.

The 24 meals Admirals’ has chosen from its menu to prepare during this promotion period are those of traditional Danish style meals with ingredients including meatballs, potatoes, herring, salmon asparagus, onions, capers and even caviar.

Na mentioned that the current crowd favourite is the Scandinavian Style Hash meal which consists of pork meatball in curry sauce. Its creamy topping provides a creamy taste with a tinge of spice from the curry powder sprinkled on. It is also quite filling because it is served with steamed rice.

As for the sandwiches, favourites include;

    • Smoked Salmon sandwich which is served with asparagus and scrambled eggs

    • Herring sandwich served with three types of herrings and onions, capers and the Danish, Lurpak butter

    • Paris Beef sandwich which is basically ground beef with fried egg, caper, chopped onions and beetroot

Na noted that during these few days since the promotion had started, the Swedish and Thai customers seem to prefer the peeled shrimp sandwich which is served together with caviar and mayonnaise.

The Admiral’s Pub & Restaurant branches are located at Pattaya and Hua Hin. Another branch will be coming soon to Bangkok and is to be located at Sukhumvit Soi 29.
