As part of the embassy’s regular consultations with the Government of Myanmar as well as with the major opposition leaders the Danish Ambassador, Mikael Hemniti Winther, met with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi on the 9th of November 2011 in her house on University Avenue in Yangon. Their discussions covered the political situation in Myanmar, the possibility that the National League of Democracy would stand for by-elections to the Burmese parliament as well as the Danish development assistance to democratic reforms and poverty reduction.
