Ambassador meets with President Xi Jinping

Wednesday April 3 the Danish Ambassador to China, Friis Arne Petersen, and the entire foreign diplomatic corps in China was invited by the Chinese President Xi Jinping  to meet with the new Chinese leadership in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

President Xi, who had his official appointment as the President of the People’s Republic of China on March 15th 2013, met with 180 foreign ambassadors and representatives of international organizations based in Beijing. During the three-hour meeting, the Chinese leadership thanked them for promoting understanding and cooperation between China and the world.

This was President Xi’s first official meeting with the foreign diplomatic corps as President of the People’s Republic of China.

During the meeting in the Great Hall of the People Ambassador Friis Arne Petersen also met with the new Premier of China, Li Keqiang, the Vice President of China, Li Yuanchao, and the Foreign Minister of China, Wang Yi.

“I am very honoured to be invited to the Great Hall of the People to meet the new President of China, Xi Jingping, and other important Chinese state leaders. I am sure that the meeting will strengthen the good cooperation between Denmark and China,” says the Ambassador.
